The Sweater That Keeps on Giving

You know the cute blogger chicks who do posts of detailed Quiet Books, Handmade Clothes, Refurbished Furniture, or Delectable Desserts and then claim they are not creative or crafty in any way. Liars. They ARE talented and artsy, and I wish I was them; but I can honestly tell you that I am Home-Ec-Disabled. For reals.
This is why I am making this post, because I am baffled by my craftiness!
Let me introduce you to my good friend,"Eddie Bauer XL", I found her at DI last month. I bought her lovely self for $6 and have been reaping the benefits ever since.

Though her textured exterior and comfy appeal would do quite nice as Mr Bauer originally intended for her (a sweater), I had other plans. It started when I made the decision to make stockings for Xmas this year. I copied someone else's fantastic idea: cut the shape of the stocking, then sew up the sides! Easy Schmeasy! It's not perfect(I told you I wasn't crafty), and it was a little lumpy around the edges, but I loved it!

But then other ideas began to stir and Pinterest, that dirty temptress, had her way with me. I soon found myself cutting out Miss XL's sleeves and turning them into Boot Leggings! What's better than a new pair of boots?....A wicked sweet pair of leggings to go with them.

I was beginning to feel guilty about the remains of my new friend. It seemed like she still had so much to offer the world. So, on my way to the garbage to toss the rest of her out, I was teasing when I turned to Kris and said, "Should we use the turtleneck as a beanie for Jellybean? Haha"......this "haha" slowly turned into a slow cackle, "Wahaha! We're not done with you YET my blue eyed friend!" I exclaimed as I began surgery on her once more with a crazed look in my eye.
Cut, cut, snip, snip, Hummm of the Sewing maching....Bam!

The Bean looks fantastic!

With threads of soft blue cotton caressing my gorgeous, frizz free and perfectly straightened brunette strands of hair, I turned to my old friend. I believe I heard a voice. Much like the one heard from the deceased Giving Tree. It whispered, "Rice babies..." Ah yes, my wise comrade, why did I not think of that.
(If you don't know what a rice baby is, ask a grandma from Idaho)

Two, I got two rice babies out of her.

California Lovin'

I am a horrible blogger, sorry. In case anyone still looks at my blog:
We spent two weeks in California. And by "we" I mean, me and the kids. I missed Kris more than ever, but I'm still glad we went 'cause it was a lot of fun! We did it all; San Francisco, Santa Cruz (twice),Bonfires and late night talks with sisters. I official called it a success! Truan and Jellybean had way too much fun playing with cousins and getting into trouble. Truan still asks if we can go back to grandma's house. We'll be back for Christmas!

Between The CornMaze, Boo at the Zoo, trick or treating and sipping Apple Cider, it was a successful Halloween! I love having a kid big enough to walk around the neighborhood with. SO much fun!
Truan is not into looking at the camera when I ask him to, but I snapped a bunch of pictures anyway. They're mostly out of focus, blurry or not centered because of the constant motion of this kid! His face might not look like it, but he had a blast!

Trick or Treating was a lot of fun, but it took a few tries for Truan to understand the concept. The first person who opened the door, Truan walked right into the house looking for grandma, "Grandma? Grandma!" The lady was a little confused why this 2 year old was invading her home....oops.

We have been doing lots of things these days, but I am horrible at blogging, and I am sorry that our "fans"(Christina) has to suffer for it. So if you've given up on us, I don't blame you. But you will be upset that you missed this one.

Every yeas we go to the Art in the Park and every year Kris looks forward to eating a Gyro! Yummm, lamb, or goat, or whatever it is. (yuck)

Here's a picture of Truan. Let's take a closer look: Truan has only one sock on, one of his arms hanging out of his shirt, a bruise on his cheek and playing with Mommy's phone, which he's not supposed to do. This is how Truan lives his life, in total shambles.

Thanks to Kellie, we got to enjoy a pre-season Steelheads game! Wahoo! I soon learned that I do not like Hockey Fights. It can be very bloody.... Other than that, is was a LOT of fun!

Ok, so there was this lady who sat behind us and was totally drunk for the game. SHe was so loud and was making all sorts of awesome comments. I think my favorite comment was when she held her face with her hands and said, "God bless America!" GOOD entertainment! Can you see her in the back of this picture??

Labor Day

I know it's been a while since I've posted, so I will not try to catch you up with all of our activities. This post will be about our Labor Day camping trip. But just know that we are having the time of our lives with these two little people! Who else says things like, "Oh Man! Are you kidding me", "Well look at that..." and "Bad mommy! No spanking Truan!" ? As much as a two year old drains every ounce of patience out of you, we still keep him around for comic relief (plus it doesn't hurt to to have a mommy-daddy date, every once in a while, to smooth things over). Jelly Bean loves to coo and "talk" all morning long, her favorite time of day. She also LOVES to have her diaper changed and taking long relaxing baths. Love these babies of ours!

These next two pictures deserve an explanation:
This trip was Truan's first run on the Top Bunk! The first night he did fabulous and peeked over the edge to wake us up. Night #2 was a different story. At 2:15 in the morning, Kris and my hearts sunk when we heard a THUD! Truan had fallen off the top bunk. Nothing broke and he's doing fine, but the poor little man looks so beat up. Sad Sad.

What's For Dinner?

The hardest part of my day is trying to figure out what to make for dinner. What do we have in the fridge? How many times can you make chicken and pasta in one week?

I've recently been planning my week out on Sunday evenings. This way when 4 or 5 o'clock rolls around I know if I should be defrosting chicken or frying up some ground beef. This has now made my Sunday Evenings very unpleasant! Trying to think of one dinner is hard enough, but thinking up 6 dinners in one sitting seems to be extremely stressful for me. You'd think planning ahead would take all the stress out of it. Nope.
I'm not sure who said it first, but in my family we joke about how every woman only has so many "dinners" in her. Is it possible that I've reached my quota at 25 years old??.......Yes.

Truan continues to make us laugh daily. I don't know if every two year old is this hilarious, but we are enjoying it!
Funny thing #1:
Truan Loves Toy Story. Watches it at least once every day. And when we went to Walmart recently he wouldn't let go of a Buzz Lightyear action figure. Because we are softies and only have one child (for now) that asks for toys at the store,we happily bought the toy. Truan carries it with him everywhere. He even sleeps with it sometimes (Pottsie, Beware!) Now Truan will stand on books, ottomans, couches etc lift his fists and exclaim "To Infinity,And Beyond!" although it comes out like this: "Infee, ON!"

Funny Thing #2:
Kris and I were talking about when Aria and Walter were coming to visit.We turned to Truan and informed him by saying, "Do you want to see Uncle Walter?" In response, Truan covered his mouth with his fatty fat little hand and whispered,"Oh my gosh."! It was so hilarious, that we continue to replicate it by asking about Uncle Walter, and without fail,he responds the same way because he knows now that it makes us laugh. I tried really hard to get it on film.It is very hard to hear him whisper into his hand, but if you listen closely you can hear it! Enoy! We sure have!

When Truan was born, I remember having the camera on hand at all times. While he was napping or just hanging out. I couldn't help but want to capture every expression! Now that I am a mother of two, I find things are a little different this time around. The time that I am not breastfeeding or changing diapers, I'm trying to make food for Truan or me or pick up after an explosion of blocks in the front room. I suddenly realized that I have been totally lacking in the photo department with this new Jelly Bean of ours. She changes SO much everyday! And I am horrible for not documenting this! So, I am going to make a goal to take a picture of her everyday! Even if it's just one, while she's sleeping. It's hard to get a newborn to perform. Well here's my first installment of new pics.

Devyn Ray

I know, it's taken me so long to post! I'm sorry. But in all honesty, everyone has already seen her via Facebook and coming over to squeeze on her. It's so easy to post pictures on Facebook, that the blog is becoming obsolete. But for those of you who somehow have NOT heard or seen:
Devyn Ray Donner was born on June 4, 2010. Yes, she was a FULL week late! But I guess she knew that her mom wanted a June baby. She was 8lbs 15oz and 20 in tall.
Started at 10pm and after a little over ten hours of labor,I had had no sleep all night,was completely worn out and pleaded for the epidural. My buddy "Rob" (I never met him before in my life, but he was the one putting a huge needle in my back, so I assume we're buddies now) graciously gave me one. A little over an hour later, we were ready to push. I think it was less than ten minutes and a couple pushes, and Devyn Ray popped right out! My mom's first words were, "She has HAIR!" I was so relieved, since Truan had NONE the first 9 mos of his life. And then we made sure it was a girl who came out, because we could have gotten a little "Rocco"(my sister delivered a boy when she was told she was having a girl). Devyn will probably never know her name, since Truan keeps calling her "Baby Sister" and I only refer to her as "The Jellybean". We'll have to just teach it to her before she heads off to kindergarten.
I was so lucky and blessed with wonderfully supportive family and friends around me. From Ryan and Nicole, letting us bring Truan over to their house at 2:30 n the morning, to Kellie and Kylie who babysat, played and entertained a two year old for a couple days. I also had my big sister come out all the way from California to help prep for the baby! Amazing!
And then there was my mom, who came out for a week and held my hand through everything leading up to and all through the delivery! Grocery shopping, keeping me fed, pulling fat Truan in and out of carseats, cleaning my house.... the list it endless. There is no thank you sufficient.
To all of these people.

My favorite moments on June 4th:

Kris's face when Devyn was coming out. It was the same as when Truan was born. He does not have a very expressive personality, but when he saw her for the first time, his face could not be described. So much joy and wonderment. I love this man.

Truan's face and exclamation. When we brought him into the room, we weren't sure what to expect. We thought there might be no reaction at all, just curiosity at this little person. But when Truan saw Devyn in my arms he became giddy and exclaimed "Baby Sister?" As if he had been waiting for so long for her! He's one of my favorite people.

The birds have flown the nest. It's kind of sad really.
Kris is excited that it is all done and we can get rid of the eyesore on our porch, but I am going to miss those little guys. I hope they come back next year when we have a new overhang built. Here's hoping.

2 Years Old

Truan turns two on May 17th. Because I am 9 mos pregnant, currently, life feels extremely redundant to what happened two years ago. I wont go into the long haul of labor again, but I do want to share how much I love this little boy. He is becoming such a grown up person already and yet he still feels like my baby. Maybe this will change when Devyn arrives,and maybe this feeling will never leave me. I love being able to hang out with him all the time! He gets smarter and more fun every day! Kris and I are always amazed by him, we pinch ourselves to make sure we aren't dreaming of this spunky little person!
Here are some things Truan does:
-He loves to give Dad a kiss on each cheek before he goes to bed.
-His favorite cartoons are Ninja Turtles, Spiderman and Dinosaurs
-He is always willing to help mommy by throwing things away in the garbage, "fold" laundry, and "cooking"
-He sings and counts to himself. He normally sings "The ABC Song" and counts "one, two, four, fise, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!"
-He is always aware of any airplane or bird flying overhead
-He loves to point out everything we pass by in the car, "Mommy! Cars! Mommy!Cows!"

There's so much more and the list grows constantly! Today Truan brought me the camera and wanted me to take a picture of him in his Batman Pajamas. This is his camera face.

Spring Babies

I am sitting in my 9th month of pregnancy and it seems as though the nesting stage has spread. This weekend, Kris decided to tear down our porch overhang. It was due to come down, considering the MDF was swollen and falling apart. (take a look at the pictures, it didn't come down in whole pieces) The project needed to be done...but 4 weeks before the baby was due? Anyway, thanks to Kris and a few friends the whole thing came down in an afternoon.
If you've read my blog each Spring, you know about the family of birds that have visited us each year and made their home in the eves of our overhang. I love them. I feel so pleased and giddy inside that they chose our back porch to make their little family. Each year, we listen for the chirping of newly hatched babies. And each year we are never disappointed.
And so they came. And they made their upgrades to the nest. And the mommy sat on her eggs, and now they're here! Snuggled so sweetly in their nest.
They had not been informed of the demolition project that took place this weekend and so we left that one eve standing on it's own. So now we have this random eve, balance upright with our doghouse and BBQ, and I'm afraid it will have to stay that way for the next 6 weeks or so, until those babies leave the nest. I am so sad to think that this may be our last Spring with this Feathery Family. Plans of rebuilding the overhang is still undecided and I'm afraid that the disturbance we've made during the tearing down, may deter these birds to come back. Even if we had a new spot for them.

Note: I climbed my fat pregnant self up onto the doghouse to get these shots....that should have been documented as well. ha ha ha.

Rain Rain ....Feed my lawn!

It's rainy, which is good because that means I don't have to water my lawn. But bad because now we're stuck inside the house all day. To keep my mind off it all, I pulled out my sewing machine and begun a few little projects that I've wanted to do for a while. Check 'em out:

It's an I Spy Fish! You put random toys in it for your kids to find!

Truan soon realized that his toys were inside the fish and began being very concerned that they would never escape: "Help, man! Help, Ball!" I didn't plan for that.

And a towel bib. Cause we can never have enough bibs around here!

Missing Kris

Kris accepted an offer for a new job. He is working as a Territory Manager for Ecolab. With this new job, comes the requirement to fly to Minneapolis for a week for training. I hate it when Kris is gone. I cry every time.
I am lucky to have my little Truan Face to keep me entertained and busy while he is gone. But I still tear up when Truan calls for daddy when he wakes up or when he turns to me and says, "Daddy? Working?"
Before Kris left we had the Best Saturday! Kris and I spent Truan's morning naptime in the backyard, prepping the garden, pruning, clearing off and hosing down the back patio. Then we grabbed some lunch and took it to the park for a picnic. The weather was perfection! Truan had a blast going up and down slides until his fat face was pink, Kris had fun running after him and I enjoyed watching from a distance enjoying the sun! After the park, we bought our plants for our vegetable garden and planted them. For dinner we sat out on our clean back porch and roasted hot dogs on sticks over the fire (that I made!). We finished off the night by giving Truan a bath. (I just love the smell of a freshly scrubbed midget) And then Kris and I snuggled up together and watched some SNL. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day together. Which makes it that much harder to have him gone.
So if anyone knows a good book that I could lose myself in, PLEASE let me know.

In the Life of Truan

So here's what's been going on these days:
Every time I pull out the camera Truan wants me to take a picture of his tattoo. It has completely rubbed off by now, but here is the lifespan of the tattoo while it lasted.

Next big thing in Truan's life these days is "Coll-ing" (coloring). He enjoys his dinosaur coloring book and crayons, but mostly, he likes to sit next to me at the table and draw with a pen and paper. Love it.

Ok, I'm finally putting Easter pictures up! I took a bunch of pictures of Truan at the Easter Egg Hunt, but as I scrolled through all the pictures I remembered how windy it was that morning. I don't have a normal looking picture of Truan. His face was scrunched up in every one! The good news is, we saw the Easter Bunny and Truan didn't cry! Score!
Truan has no idea who the Easter Bunny is or how a basket of goodies showed up in his bedroom, but it was fun to have a kid old enough to do the Easter Traditions with!

He'll be so glad when he's 17 and these pictures pop up! Our Easter Flower! Ha ha!

Truan said his first prayer last night. We had kneeled down for prayer and Truan was having a hard time focusing, so I decided it might be his turn to say Family Prayer. I didn't think it would work, but we tried anyway. With the prodding of Mom, this was his prayer:
" Heavan Father,
Thank you Puppies, Thank you Mommy, Thank you Daddy, Thank you Church, Thank you Freinds, Name, Jezoo Christ, Amen!"

Simple and sweet. It's been my favorite Mommy Moment so far. I love this kid!

Climbing, Cousins and Popeye

This little man of ours learns and changes everyday. It's just so crazy all the stuff he picks up on. He's copying everything we say and loves learning new stuff. Here are some of the things that are going on in Truan's life:

Everything's a toy, including boxes. Note, he's aiming his "hand gun" at me. He's dangerous.

Sometimes we find our good friend "Pots" in the high chair, buckled up, waiting for lunch.

Truan's cousin Luca, who we call "Ucca", came to visit. Truan was happy to share his cars and have a friend around. Even when Luca was gone Truan would point up the stairs (where they stayed) and say, "Ucca? Sleeping?". The only reason for Luca to not be around, is if he's taking a nap, right?

Truan is into watching old cartoons that Grandma gave him for his Birthday. I came into the living room to find this. He had himself all set up and had somehow turned on "Popeye". It's like he's a big kid. Don't be fooled, he's still a baby. Right?

Kris put a "route" up for Truan on the climbing wall. Truan climbed it over and over again. We finally had to peel him off because it was bedtime. I'm not sure who had more fun, Truan or Kris who was stoked to see his little boy loving the same things he loves.

The Cabin

Another quick weekend up at the cabin was a success. I didn't realize the lack of pictures I took until I was uploading them, and it took no time. The ride up (which normally takes about an hour and 45 mins) took us 3 hours to get there because of the ice on the road. So I took a couple pictures on the drive up because I was bored.
We also got a couple pictures of us sledding, so enjoy.

I turned around to take a picture of Truan in his relaxed state. He was really excited that I was taking pictures and kept asking me to take more. Here's his poses:

When I was little, my parents would put an orange in the bottom of our stockings every year. This year I'm, telling Kris to just stuff my stocking with them.

We practiced and got pumped up for the meet and greet. But when we walked past the elves and closer to the Jolly Old Man, everything went out the window. Lucky for santa, there was no screaming or tears, but Truan refused to sit on his lap as well as look at the camera. He kept an eye on the sneaky old man the whole time. I told Truan not to be surprised if he found coal in his stocking this year.

We waited for over 30 mins for the big event.

"There's no way this fat man is getting down our chimney....what's your secret old man?"

It was a long day.

Meet "Pots"

This is Pots

Initially we named him Blue Spot, because he is covered in blue spots. Truan has slept with him every night since he was about 10 months. Since he has begun talking, Truan now asks for him by name. But he moved the "S" from the begining of his name to the end: Hence Pots.
Each night when Truan goes "Night, Night" he asks for Pots.
He has become an honorary part of the family as well as Truan's good friend. Though we try to keep Pots in the crib, Truan usually breaks him out by sticking his arm through the crib rails and pulling him out. We've found Pots in the most odd circumstances. Once he got left in the dishwasher when Truan was "helping" do dishes. Another time, Pots was put in the high chair for dinner. Truan also assists with his grooming by putting him in the bathtub. And we never leave the house without giving Pots a kiss on the mouth and a wave goodbye. Needless to say, Pots has a weekly date with the washer and dryer.

Most of the year we stay really busy, and I enjoy where I am. But winter rolls around and I'm suddenly slapped in the face with the reminder that I'm in Idaho!! Growing up in the Bay Area in California, I am reminded of the drive to school, huddled in the back of my cousins volvo complaining that if it was 5 degrees colder then we might see snow! I saw snow once in California, and it never touched the ground. How spoiled I was! Though I do enjoy the clean and fresh look of a new blanket of snow, I despise the frigid air that is accompanied by it.
Today, I spent a good chunk of my day, browsing through travel packages to the Bahamas. If I had the money, I would have booked an itinerary today.
Anyone else in mourning of those Sunny days chalked with sunscreen and fruity drinks?

The kid does the funniest stuff.
Today I was doing some laundry, (You know, that big pile that never goes away? You know the one)when Truan decided to rummage through my clean pile that I was folding. He finally popped out of the pile with his Halloween costume! He was pretty excited to see it again and tried to put it on, wrapping it unsuccessfully around his neck. So I helped him a little, just sliding his arms through. He has been so happy about this new "outfit" of his, that he's been wearing all day. It was so cute, I had to post a pic or two.

Happy Halloweeen!
After Kris, Ryan and The Popes came back from the BSU game, we headed across the street to Trunk or Treating! Truan meandered from trunk to trunk gathering good sweets that he wont be allowed to eat. But he had fun nonetheless, starting at everyone elses cotumes. Later we went home and enjoyed some snacks and friends! We even got three whole trick or treaters! I was so excited about it!

The Salmon River

On Saturday, Kris and I went rafting down the Salmon River! We had never done this before. Kris's mom, Kellie has gone on trips with these guys before and knew how much fun it was, so she planned and organized everything! Thanks again Kellie!

The Fourth!

Happy Late fourth of July!
We went down to Provo to visit my two sisters and their families. We had so much fun playing at the water park, watching THE parade and enjoying a fabulous BBQ!
Here's the snap shots from the visit!

WHen we decided to go down to UT, Kris's first thought was to go to The African Restaurant. Here's his happy face! Yummy African fooood! And....James, just as...happy?

After a few rounds of Orange Fanta, I asked Rocco to pose for me. This is what I got.

We were in UT for less than a few hours and Kris was already climbing trees, Truan in tow.

A rigorous round of xbox followed the tree climbing. It was a good weekend. Truan felt involved.

Walking to the park was a photo shoot in itself with these two midgets.

Catch Up?

It's been a while. Don't assume that I will catch up everything that has happened recently. Between Yosemite, Truan's first Birthday and The Cabin trip, I have a few posts to come. But first and foremost:
Truan Turned ONE!!

We had a "Celebration" on Truan's Birthday while we were in Yosemite, so my family was able to celebrate with us.

He got SO hopped up on cupcake! He was laughing so hard when we tried to change his diaper later...

Truan was pretty excited about his PUFFS that aunt Bethany gave him! They have a bond.

One Year

The boy is one years old.
I would take this moment and blog space to list all of his amazing qualities and how much he means to me, but then I would just start blubbering at my computer. No one wants to see that. Then Kris will ground me from blogging for like a month. And where would that leave us.
I will keep it simple.
This year has been the longest and shortest year of our lives.
We are thankful.

Date Night!

In Downtown Boise they have what's called First Thursdays. The first Thursday of every month, shops are open later, they hold activities at galleries and stores, and wine tasting is everywhere you turn. My friend Karen and I, minimized it down to 14 things we wanted to go do out, of the 68 things they offered. We pulled out the map, highlighted, organized and made an itinerary for a Date Night with our Husbands. Our husbands were surprisingly willing to attend a date that was full of 5 min foot massages at Macy's, live jazz and chalk painting at the Boise Art Museum.
Unfortunately, because of the horrible experience we had at the restaurant we went to (to be explained), we were forced to only attend TWO of our activities!!
Though the restaurant threw a wrench in out plans, the night was still a success! We had a lot of fun, and spent a lot of TIME (sitting at a restaurant) enjoying good conversation.

Our first stop:
The Boise Art Museum a.k.a. BAM

BAM had an Ansel Adams exhibit that was lovely. We especially enjoyed the Yosemite pictures, considering we'll be there in less than a week. We explored the rest of the Museum and they let us do some chalk drawings. It was really cool.

Though Kris had already begun his masterpiece, I took time out to pose for a picture.

Turns out, Karen is actually a really good artist. She blew the rest of us away!

ok, so this is what happened.
We went to a restaurant called Chef Lou's on 8th St. It was tucked away and had cute ambiance appeal. We chose this place because they had a special First Thursday offer. They advertised free fountain drinks, I asked if lemonade was included, the guy said yes....and then later said no. We had to wait to get menus because they didn't have enough and they were ALMOST given to a group that was just walking in. We finally got drinks and menus and ordered.....An HOUR LATER we got our food.(Seriously, we watched the clock) The portions were small, my salmon was a little over cooked on the bottom and the brisket that Kris and Karen got, that was supposed to be a "Kick Ars!" dish was so-so. None of us who ordered fries got any. All in all, it was a waste of our time. SO if you live in the Boise area and you've thought about going to Chef Lou's, DON'T.
We got REALLY hungry waiting for our food we started rummaging through our purses to see if we had gum or snacks anywhere.

After dinner, it was crunch time. We had to get back to the babysitters in an hour, so we prioritized. They had an open house of high end condominiums that we all wanted to see. We walked a few blocks to the Royal Plaza. After this experience I've decided that I need a few things:
1. A doorman. I want to get one for our house. It'd be so cool. I'll name him Jeeves.
2. A buzzer. I want to be able to deny whomever I want. AND say, "Oh yes, I will buzz you up!"
3. A his and her closet/bathroom complete with a room just for the toilet. Life necessities.

We are going to Yosemite next week. We have been somewhat nervous, considering last time we camped, Truan wasn't crawling. I am not excited about the prospect of a baby rolling around in the dirt. He doesn't fit in a baby bouncer or swing anymore. SO this is what we came up with. Truan seems to be pleased with it.

Truan is mobile.
He's not quite up and running. But he gets around.
I always thought I didn't have much in my little house. I'm soon learning that I have a LOT. And Truan wants a piece of it all. Well he just can't have it.

I walked into Truan's room after a nap and found this face giggling back at me. This kid makes me wants to squeeze all the cute right out of him!

My Wife, My Best Friend

I don't feel as though I would be out of line at all to claim that I am unworthy of the amazing woman I duped into marrying me. She is truly out of my league and I'm lucky she doesn't realize it.

It is hard to organize words into the right order to express how grateful I am that she is here with me. She has blossomed into a beautiful mother and is flourishing as a parent to our son. Her love, sincerity, hope and faith make our house a home. She takes such good care of Truan and I that I couldn't ask for anything more. We have so much fun playing games, watching movies and being parents together.

She is my best friend.

Tonight, though we are busy preparing to leave for Utah in the morning she let me go ride my motorcycle. I really needed it. Thank you baby.

Easter on Parade

Ok, I'm going to say it. I didn't take enough pictures.
Truan went to his first Easter Egg Hunt in downtown Twin Falls. Unfortunately, by the time we parked and got across the street, all the eggs were taken. We learned our lesson to get there earlier, and we're glad we have a baby who doesn't understand that he left with the same amount of plastic eggs that he came with.
We did, of course, have him pose as if he was included in an egg hunt frenzy!

Projects and Toys

Random post by Kris

For almost a year now I've been working on how to build an indoor climbing wall in a garage somewhere so that we could get more practice on our rock climbing when time and/or weather wouldn't allow a trip to the cliffs. The project took on real meaning when Ryan and I decided that it was impossible for us to progress our rock climbing skills any further than they were without real training on a regular basis.

So we ordered the parts and holds online and picked up some lumber at Home Depot and set to work renovating the bat cave into our new training facility. Ryan, Danny and I do pretty good work if you ask me.

I've also been shopping for a new dirt bike for about a month. I was looking to switch from a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke and upgrade a little in the power department. I've checked craigslist every 45 mins for the last month and found exactly what I was looking for, a 2000 YZF 426. After a test drive through a residential neighborhood at about 9:30 p.m. and an angry neighbor's mild scolding due the awesome sound produced by this beast of a machine I decided we were meant for one another. She's louder than an angry mother-in-law (not you Marcia, somebody else) and has enough power to peel your eyebrows off in 4th gear if you're not wearing your goggles.

Curse You, Father Time!

When Kris and I bought our first home, I was excited to have my own place to paint walls and decorate. But my biggest excitement was that we no longer had to play to a landlords rules. I could finally have a puppy! I had never had one growing up, and so this was my chance! I visited the Idaho Humane Society everyday. They pretty much knew be by name, and I was the first one aware of any newcomers.
It wasn't a full month until I came home with our black lab, Denny. Since then we have truly fallen in love with this kid. He and Kris soon became best friends.And was a perfect big brother the day we brought Roxy home. I am excited to see Truan play with both of our dogs and enjoy them as we have. As part of the family.
I can't help myself but notice the gray hairs appearing on Denny's face. He's not an old dog in anyway (only 3 years old). But it saddens me to see the gray reminders that he wont be around as long as we would like. We'll just have to enjoy all of the time we get.
We love you Denny.

Glitter Eggs

Ask my mom. Ask any of my sisters. You can even ask my husband. I LOVE things that sparkle!
I have ever since I was little. If it was sparkly, glittery or shiny, and caught my eye, it went directly to my sock and underwear drawer. Society says that adults shouldn't keep weird things in their underwear drawers, so I have to get my kicks one way or another.
I got out he glitter and glue and enjoyed some good sparkly fun!

Bring it, Martha!

I started a quilt when I was pregnant with Truan. He is now 10 months old.
After a, "Can't find my sewing machine" phase, I dug through my garage, found it, greased the wheels and jumped back in the sewing game.
I had no idea that later that night I would be close to tears because my stripes weren't lining up and my batting was bunched. I quit. I called a few sisters to confirm that sewing is for old ladies, and decided I'd move on with my life.
That night I couldn't stop thinking about it. I laid awake that night, "Sewing shouldn't be THAT hard!", "I'm a stay at home mom, what am I good for if I can't throw together a simple 'Welcome to the world' quilt for my son."
I decided I'd try a different project. Make a fresh start on something new.
And so I did.
Here are the little bags I made for my desk. The first one took me four hours! Yup. The second one took me one. I may not be good and I may not be swift, but I sure as heck can thread a bobbin and sew a tote!

Another Day in Paradise

The first signs of Summer always makes me feel giddy inside. It reminds me of being little and running around in just swimsuits. I try to find reasons to be outside.
I recently found a pile of pictures of my family at the beach. Man, I am CravInG the beach!
Well today was a glorious day in Idaho. The sun was out, and no one had a need for long sleeves or sweaters! Yeah.
Truan and I debated doing yard work, or running errands. We ended up sitting on our patio furniture, throwing the ball for the puppies and enjoyed the afternoon together, like best friends do. We both played along and pretended to be sitting in front of the ocean in California. Truan would say something like, "Waves look good today, almost good enough to boogie board" and I would reply with something like, "Yes Truan, I know you want to show off your boogie boarding skills, but I'm working on my tan right now."

This is our puppy, Denny. He behaves horribly. Mostly because we have a hard time disciplining him. He cracks us up and we can't help but love his little puppy face right off. What can you do, we are hopeless Dog Lovers and proud of it!
Here's a clip of Denny complaining because he really wants some of the chocolate chip cookies that are just sitting out on the counter top. They're free game if no one is looking...right?

The Dirt Bike Emerges

It's that time of year. You know. That time when you see a patch of blue sky and you grab your swimsuit in hopes that summer has finally arrived.
We've sat at our windows praying that, that thermometer will rise ever so generously above the freezing line.
Well that mercury line wasn't generous, but we took what we got, grabbed the dirt bikes and headed to the trails. We were happy to have the Blackburn Family and Kylie come up to play with us!
It was well worth the hauling of bikes and babies.

Luca is skeptical of the trip. "You sure you know how to ride those things?"

"Don't you worry Luca, I've got everything under control"

Heck yes, this girl can ride a four wheeler like it's her Birthday!

It's Finally Fun!

Since birth, Truan has hated baths. He doesn't like water in general. It's always been a struggle to keep this little guy clean, since he makes it clear that he doesn't like it. When we took him to the pool, he held on tight and whimpered the whole time. This week was the first time he actually enjoyed it! Kris and I were beside ourselves! Especially since Summer is on it's way (we can only hope)and we want him to enjoy the water activities that will ensue. Now if he could just stop complaining when Mommy leaves the room. . .

Here he is, actually playing with toys in the tub! Yay!

Hello all.
Thanks to the web-smarts of the Forsyth Family, we had previously tried blogging on our own website. I still love it and we might still use it, but I'm trying out Blogspot to see if it's easier to use. Not all of us are the blog achievers that Francesca and Christina are. And maybe if we use this site, it wont take half the day to upload all the images. Please leave a comment, telling us how you like it, and which one you prefer. Here goes...
